This network covers the geographical distribution of the plantations and growth zones defined for the species of interest.<\/p>\n<p>The network of permanent plots provides information on the yields achieved by the plantations under operational conditions, allowing to calibrate the models under changes in genetic material, changes in management regimes, and climatic changes occurring between successive plantations.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, the trials have an experimental design with repetitions that can evaluate and model the effect of factors of interest such as establishment techniques, initial planting density, and spacing, as well as the intensity and periodicity of thinning and pruning on growth and quality of the trees. In this case, the trials consider management regimes that are not used in operations, thus allowing a greater response surface and flexibility for the developed models.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Data Capture<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The data capture process is carried out following a strict measurement protocol defined and agreed upon by its members. Annual training is given to the contracting companies in charge of collecting the data. In addition, some of the permanent plots and trials measured are also controlled by the MNS. Data are recorded with the help of an electronic data capture device. Subsequently, all data is stored and managed in a database management system developed by the MNS. Esta red cubre la distribuci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica de las plantaciones y zonas de crecimiento definidas para las especies de inter\u00e9s.<\/p> <p>La red de parcelas permanentes entrega informaci\u00f3n de los rendimientos que alcanzan las plantaciones bajo condiciones operacionales, permitiendo calibrar los modelos ante cambios de material gen\u00e9tico, modificaciones de esquemas de manejo silv\u00edcola y cambios clim\u00e1ticos que ocurran entre plantaciones sucesivas.<\/p> <p>Por otro lado, los ensayos tienen un dise\u00f1o experimental con repeticiones que permiten evaluar y modelar el efecto de factores de inter\u00e9s como son t\u00e9cnicas de establecimiento, densidad inicial de plantaci\u00f3n, espaciamiento, y la intensidad y periodicidad de raleos y podas sobre el crecimiento y calidad de los \u00e1rboles. En este caso, los ensayos consideran esquemas de manejo no utilizados en operaci\u00f3n permitiendo as\u00ed una mayor superficie de respuesta y flexibilidad de los modelos desarrollados.<\/p> <h5><strong>Captura de Datos<\/strong><\/h5> <p>El proceso de captura de datos se realiza siguiendo un estricto protocolo de mediciones definidos y acordados por sus miembros. Anualmente se realizan capacitaciones a las empresas contratistas encargadas de colectar los datos y se efect\u00faa por parte del MNS un control de algunas de las parcelas y ensayos medidos. El registro de datos se realiza con la ayuda de un capturador de datos electr\u00f3nico. Posteriormente los datos se almacenan y administran en un Sistema de Banco de Datos desarrollado por el MNS.
